Statistics prove that home staging works. According to a HomeGain survey a home seller that invests $400-$600 in home staging services will receive an average of 343% return on their investment and sell their home in less time.

Wikipedia defines it this way:

Home Staging is the act of preparing a private residence for sale in the real estate marketplace. The goal of staging is to make a home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers, thereby selling a property more swiftly and for more money. Staging techniques focus on improving a property's appeal by transforming it into a welcoming, attractive product that anyone might want.

Take a walk through your own home. Stand in the doorway of every room and look in.
This is a prospective buyer’s first impression of the room. Consider the following:

  • How do you think a buyer will feel and think about this room? (Is it warm, cold, claustrophobic, messy, sterile?)
  • Is the scale of the objects in the room in proportionate to one another? (Think, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, or a large couch with a small picture above it.)
  • Will they be distracted by the contents? (What “pops” out at you?)
  • Is the overall feeling “dark” or “light and bright”?
  • Will buyers “profile” the homes OR sellers AGE, INTERESTS, TASTE and CLEANING or ORGANIZATION HABITS?(Old furnishings in a new home still makes the home appear dated)
